Four Die as Climax Mine Cave-In Near Leadville

Four men were killed and six injured in a cave-in at the Climax Molybdenum mine near Leadville Colorado. Rescue crews recovered all bodies after the collapse 2,200 feet underground in the lower tunnel planned for dynamite blasting. The mine, operated by American Metals, employs about 200 men.

Veteran Conductor John Bennington Died at 72

John Bennington aged 72 died at 1 AM at his son Warder C Bennington's Loveland home after a 12 year illness from Brights disease. Born in Virginia he lived about 50 years in Gratton and worked as a Baltimore and Ohio railroad conductor. He was active in the Baptist church Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and the ORC. Funeral services by the two orders Monday at 2:30 PM from 406 Virginia street with Rev. E L Arnold officiating and Bluemont cemetery interment.

German minister Dr Albert Von Baligand was shot twice during an assassination attempt as he disembarked a German warship in Lisbon.
