Brookes era politics cloud West Virginia police bureau
The article details allegations of political influence in the West Virginia Department of Public Safety during Chief Brooks tenure. It notes testimony about transfers and dismissals driven by political figures, debates within a House committee, and mixed findings by the majority and minority reports. Brooks asserts no political interference and cites his personal defenses including his son’s assignment and responses to charges. Additional local social notes mention visits by Katherine Hines and family to Grafon and residents Harold Wittman and Dorothy Nye in Weston.
