Hagerty cites campaign frame amid party finance talk

Press Secretary James C Hagerty told reporters in Ebene today that the Democrat campaign effort remains focused on the 1956 election and that the party has no hidden plan to influence the race. He addressed a national conference and stressed the administration’s approach to welfare and foreign policy while dismissing “tricks” in the faith plan and noting no change in Eisenhower's position.

First Night Program Is Rained Out In Grafton

Grafton Centennial pageant opening postponed due to heavy rain last night. Crowning of two queens was rescheduled with rain checks valid for any night. coronation ceremony moved to tonight and the four night run continues unless rain returns.

Westinghouse Electrics Corp reports only five percent of its employees did not return to work after last winter's 156 day strike, a lower turnover than a typical five month period. The government approved a $100,000 advance to Weirton West Virginia for sewer and sewage plant planning. Flemington High School awarded diplomas to 29 seniors as Dr Stewart H. Smith of Marshall College delivered the address Imagine Your Future. The ceremony included processional by Olive H. Talbott, hymns and music by the glee club, salutatory Betty Richardson, valedictorian Charles Shreve, and the diploma procession led by Superintendent Virgil Rohrbough with the Taylor County Schools board. New Blue Gold Car Tags Valid For Use Today

West Virginia's 1956 gold and blue registration plates become valid today at the start of a 30 day optional display period that ends June 30. All motorists must have the new plates by July 1. State Motor Vehicles Commissioner Joseph P Condry noted dealers say the Class D plate is not valid until July 1. He added the Class D plate was not a registration plate per an attorney general opinion and should not be displayed or used by any dealer until that date.

B25 Crashes In Denver Killing Four Onboard

An Air Force powered Buh bomber from Lowry Air Force Base crashed near suburban Denver burning a house and killing four of eight aboard. Four others were injured. A passenger listed as a WAC may be among survivors. The plane departed Lowry at 9 59 a m and reported engine trouble two minutes later while attempting to return.

Sole Survivor Recalls Nightmare After Plane Crash

Roberto Ovando Arden, the sole survivor of the Aviateca crash that killed 30, described a six day ordeal in rugged Guatemalan mountains. He spoke in Guatemala City about watching four victims die and the burning wreckage attracting wild beasts while he tried to comfort the mortally injured before hitchhiking back to civilization.

Joseph L. Stanton Baltimore and Ohio Public Relations Director will crown Miss Anita Shahan as Queen of the Grafton Centennial. Famed Grafton Native To Head Saturday Parade

George Priston Marshall, a former Grafton native, returns as marshal for the Centennial Parade Saturday afternoon. He led the Redskins since 1982, steered pro sports ventures, and sponsored charity games raising over 31.65 million for boys clubs. Married to Corie Chist, he lives on Thayer Street, a Grafton High School alumnus who left town after World War I.

Parade Judges and Royal Pageant for Grafton Celebration

The parade lineup lists Alpha Hall and other officials as judges and masters of ceremonies for the Grafton centennial parade.
