15 Year Old Boy Admits Slaying Of His Mother
Pittsburgh dispatch reports 15 year old John Hanna Jr confessed to shooting his mother Mrs Tresse Hanna 42 in the doorway of the garage after she refused him use of the family car. The youth, son of a railway mail clerk, lived on a chicken farm 15 miles west of Pittsburgh. He told police after hours of questioning.

Swimming Pool Manager Kills His Wife, Himself
J D Booth 61 of Kenova pool operator died of self inflicted bullet wounds after killing his wife Bertha 57 in their yard three bullet wounds found on her body. Booth also ran a theater in Kenova and a pool in Portsmouth Ohio authorities said relatives reported ill health and officers found a pistol with all six cartridges fired nearby.

Cold Weather Halts 30th Memorial Day Exercises
About 2,600 school children and others braved near freezing in a three mile parade through Grafton streets for the 67th Memorial Day services. Some 5,000 spectators watched as police led the march, which ended at the National cemetery with ceremonies honoring war dead. Despite cold, crowd spirit remained high as veterans and youths participated in a long local tradition. Continued on page four.

Four WPA payroll padding cases widen probe in Parkersburg
Federal agents charged two more relief workers Frank Sprouse and John McMullen in Parkersburg as part of a larger WPA payroll padding probe led by Agent Raymond King. The investigation already named A. K. Summers timekeeper and A. L. Corbin project foreman, with Summers alleged to have issued three checks totaling 77 dollars to dummy workers and Corbin cashing them and sharing proceeds.

Slayings Charged to Hooded Group in Detroit Case
Michigan state police reported that four former Black Legion members allege three others forced Bielak’s group to discharge him at a Detroit automobile plant. Bielak, said to be a Communist, was beaten and shot near Monroe on March 1, 1934. A grand jury inquiry in Detroit will hear the informant’s testimony while prosecutors explore another Black Legion flogging and a suspected death by own action case involving a church Shrine fire.

J C Williams, 60, president of Weirton Steel, died unexpectedly at his Summer lodge near Weirton West Virginia. A native of Kidwelly Wales he arrived in the United States in 1907 and helped found several steel ventures before leading Weirton Steel for five years. He suffered a heart attack about 5 AM and did not recover.
