Tygarts River Coal Co sues over coal rate to Miss from Arden
The Tygarts River Coal Company of Arden Barbour County West Virginia files with the Interstate Commerce Commission a complaint against Baltimore & Ohio Western Maryland Philadelphia & Reading Central Railway of New Jersey Lehigh and Hudson River Central New England and New York New Haven & Hartford railroads. It alleges excessive rates on coal shipments from Arden to Lee Mississippi due to circuitous routing increasing mileage by 39 miles. It also charges that B & O and Philadelphia & Reading block through shipments much of the year, and that Central Railway of New Jersey refuses cars for traffic from the Baltimore & Ohio West Virginia district preventing delivery by any route other than the one used. The complaint seeks enforced rates for the shorter haul.
