Colored Woman Held On Felonious Assault Charge
A young colored woman from Dogtown near Flemington is jailed in Taylor County awaiting a justice court hearing on felonious assault. Ethel Hudson, 12? of Dogtown, was arrested on a warrant by Stella Waller, the complaint witness, after an incident last night. State Trooper Tribbett and Deputy Matthews reported the arrest around 10 p.m. Details of the altercation were to be heard in Mag. Snider’s office that afternoon. Stella Waller was to testify regarding the charge.

Former State Department Worker Charged With Treason
The Justice Department says a 52 year old former State Department employee Herbert John Burgman was arrested in Germany on treason charges. Burgman, born in Hokah Minnesota, served twenty years at the Berlin embassy as a clerk and economic statistician. He allegedly refused to return to the United States in 1941 and worked for Nazi radio broadcasts aimed at American forces. He is expected to be flown home later this month to face treason charges. Authorities say about twenty investigators continue probes into Americans who broadcast for the enemy. 24 have been indicted and 14 convictions have been obtained to date.
