The Grafton Rotary Club marks 50 years since its 1920 split from Clarksburg with a February 23 dinner at the Moose Home. Rev. John Ward Brown of Kingwood will speak, with C. E. Wyckoff acting as MC. Officers are Mendelson, Godwin, and Sapp. Program chair is Lockard.

In East Lyme Connecticut police say Annie M. Sand, 50, confessed to taking Harry Strosberg, 59, a home builder, from her Willimantic home after he suffered a heart attack. She tied his body to a car bumper, drove seven miles and dumped it in a pond. Strosberg’s body was found near the pond with torn clothes and bruising from dragging.
In Formosa waters the Chinese Nationalist air force said it sank a 700 ton Red gunboat and five armed junks during a daylong strike 120 miles north of Formosa. Officials reported two other warships and two gun boats damaged. later, the fleet was described as possibly a training exercise or fishing vessels.
MONTGOMERY Alabama United Press report says H G Sterns was arrested for drunken driving after stopping for a traffic light the patrolman noted Sterns stopped at a green signal. The officer grew suspicious when the vehicle halted at a green light instead of a red or amber signal.
Secretary of State John Foster Dulles arrived in Bangkok to seek peace and freedom in Southeast Asia. SEATO delegates expect Anglo American clash over Formosa crisis and SEATO Pacific charter. Dulles and British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden are to clash on methods and implementation as the three day SEATO conference opens.
Sen Herbert Traubert submits a bill at the request of the Interim Committee on Government and Finance and the Interstate Cooperation Commission to give the budget director ongoing power to scrutinize all state agency spending and reject requisitions deemed illegal or unauthorized.
