Polish Jewish demonstrators clashed with police in Berlin’s British sector as they blocked a showing of the film Oliver Twist amid charges of anti Semitism. Police used clubs and water hoses. the theater halted the matinee after about 800 protesters gathered on the Kurfuerstendamm. British and German authorities reported the crowd hurled rocks and shouted, with injuries to officers and a TV reporter, but no shootings occurred. The protest followed a prior halted screening the previous night.
