Gretchen Powell of Toledo was voted the prettiest co ed on the Findlay College campus in Findlay Ohio according to an Associated Press photo caption.
The Grafton M C A will be open within a week with remodeling for a larger program. Directors met to approve repairs including bowling alleys, gym floor, and shower system. New dressing rooms and renovated quarters promised, with equipment orders placed. Opening night set for Friday February 14 with special programs. Auxiliary women membership created for limited gym and reading room access. Assistant secretary position created and Earl Hughes appointed.
The Junior Choir of St Pauls Lutheran Church will hold practice this evening at 7 20 o clock. All members are asked to be present.

Sixteen miners killed with five missing after a Standard Company's mine blast in Standardville Utah. Rescue crews recovered thirteen bodies as gas fumes from carbon monoxide blocked exits. Rescued survivors Rubio Monroe Andy Dougherty Gerald Banasky and an unidentified man escaped, while one rescuer perished trying to save others. The cause remains undetermined but gas is blamed.
Charleston February 7 a variety of suggestions for changes in the state constitution were developed at the opening session of public hearings by the state constitution commission to recommend amendments. D J F Strother presided and urged input from interested persons while W Knight explained that complete agreement was unlikely and the open forum would continue as needed for full discussion. Delegate E M Keatley noted growing state sentiment to improve the constitution and faulted the current system for weak executive authority, urging study of four fall amendments and public recommendation.
Chief Forester Mr. Newins described his forestry problem experience from coast to coast during the final Farm and Home Week session at West Virginia University College of Agriculture. He spoke to farmers gathered for the event this morning.
Washington February 7 Representative Beck Republican Pennsylvania declares the party would perish if it becomes the party of prohibition. A former solicitor general and constitutional law authority he says the party cannot hold self-respecting men and women to moral affronts of dry laws. He notes repeal unlikely soon but suggests future generations may decide how to apply the Eighteenth Amendment.
Gov. Conley told farmers at Farmers Week that preliminary figures show over 86 million dollars will be spent in West Virginia this year on public improvements and industrial expansion. He urged conservation and reforestation as vital for the state’s growth, noting large future spending on water power and new enterprises.
