Beckley February 6 State troopers questioned Mrs Thelma Dickens then accused her husband Prince Dickens a coal miner of slaying Newt Holland. Detective Cooper found the body in the Dickens yard and Dickens told the detective Harrison Hannah killed the man after a fracas. Troopers continue to hunt Hannah.
Beer wholesalers face $125 annual fee in Morgantown
Morgantown officials consider an ordinance requiring beer wholesalers to pay a $125 yearly fee to operate in the city. The measure also sets closing hours and other regulations and awaits a council vote at the next meeting.

In Victor West Virginia Feb 5 a woman Minnie Coleman is jailed on a lunacy charge after police found her 33 year old daughter Dama living in a single room of a four room mountain shack. Troopers broke down the door and Dama, described as weak blind and unable to talk, was taken to McKendree State hospital after examination by physicians at Ansted. The daughter had reportedly lived with an uncle at Mount Hope since she was 11.

Chemical Firm Manager Perishes in Explosion
Charleston February 6. O North 45 manager of Apex Chemical company died from fatal burns after a laboratory explosion at the plant fourteen miles from Charleston. North attempted to operate a vacuum distillation apparatus when the blast engulfed him in flames. His secretary Margaret McMorrow 23 was severely burned while trying to extinguish the flames. North born in Dubois Pennsylvania died six hours later. He is survived by his widow three sons and his mother Mrs J B North of Dubois.

Legislature Pay Returned by Mineral County Delegate
George F. Parrish head of the automobile bureau of the road commission returned a $500 legislature salary check to Governor Kump saying he is not entitled. He received the 1936 pay as a member of the house of delegates from Mineral county and resigned the post after the road commission job. Parrish requested the check be returned to the treasury. Woman poker hosts bound for grand jury in Philadelphia

Cutter Brings 150 Men To Isolated Isle Home
