A Yugoslav medical student and son of a rabbi surrendered to Swiss police after confessing to attempting to assassinate Gustloff in Davos. He hoped to strike at Hitler to avenge Jewish suffering, saying he would have aimed at the Nazi leader but killed the scientist instead. Gustloff, a Davos physicist and observatory worker, died from five bullets as the assassin fled. Continued on page four.
