Williamsburg Kentucky December 30 Acting County Judge Jov Feather said authorities were checking a 12-year-old girl's tale that she beat her maternal grandmother unconscious with a hammer over remarks about her father. The grandmother Mary Hampton 56 remained in critical condition in Corbin hospital. The girl, a seventh grader described as pretty blue eyed and unusually intelligent, is in a delinquency case. her mother is dead and she had been living with the grandmother at Rockhold near Williamsburg. The father lives in a neighboring county.
