New Brighton Eagles start a Christmas fund at Grafton Eagles to provide baskets for needy families, and all Eagles are urged to contribute.

The Florida Citrus Commission convenes in emergency session to assess freeze damage to an estimated 300 million dollar citrus crop. Forecasters predict warmer weather nationwide, but Florida reports severe damage in the northern sector, with about 25 million dollars of vegetables withered. Farmers south of Miami report minimal impact. The commission’s Homer Hoons calls this the worst freeze since December.
President Eisenhower arrived in Paris for the NATO heads of state meeting. He urged unity to defend freedom against a powerful state and said the alliance must strengthen security and seek peaceful relations with the Soviet Union. He praised France’s role in founding NATO and emphasized liberty equality and brotherhood as guiding values.
London Mrs Mary Bennett gave birth to quadruplets at East End Maternity Hospital. The two boys and two girls each weigh over four pounds. Mother and all four babies are reported doing well.
