New executive secretary Jack R. Nuzum will launch a yearlong program for the Taylor Board of Trade with a goal of one hundred percent membership from local merchants and supporters. Major winter projects include attracting new industries to Grafton, developing Tysart Lake State Park, and reopening the Bridge Street bridge, all part of a long range city and county welfare plan. Nuzum, 27, a U.S. Army veteran, will take office officially on December 15 and will act in a nonpolitical capacity while representing the board in county and state legislative talks.

Legislature To Be Given AFL Proposal
PARKERSBURG December 6 AFL officials said the legislature will receive an AFL sponsored plan to merge the State Workmen's Compensation and Unemployment Compensation departments with the State Labor department. The State Federation of Labor executive board, meeting here, urged studying the proposal as an economy measure and backed revising unemployment laws to provide jobless pay after 30 days for non striking workers who refuse to cross a picket line. It also opposed a requested increase in telephone rates.
