Former President Harry S Truman suffers an intestinal ailment and will stay at his Independence home for several days according to Dr. Wallace Graham who said Truman became ill Friday but is coming along fine. The illness is described as intestinal in nature.
State and county officers pursued a weekend case heavy with drunken driving charges. Ralph Biggs of Flemington and Cecil Bennett of Elk Garden were fined for drunken driving after arrests near Flemington and on U S Route 50 near Grafton. William Butcher faced a hit and run charge after a collision on Gawthrop Hill, with fines issued. Other entries include Mayles charging Harley Haynes with threats and Wilford Keller jailed for intoxication under a warrant, while Charles Carder’s case was dismissed with damages paid.

A baby was born in a wrecked car after a crash that involved four vehicles in Indianapolis. Anthony Kremple, rushing his wife to the hospital for their fourth child, ran a stoplight, and his auto collided with four cars injuring six people. A passing doctor crawled into the wrecked car and delivered the baby.
Raymond Cline, 41, of Mingo County West Virginia, died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital Sunday from a bullet wound suffered last week while hunting deer in Pendieton County, West Virginia. Police said he was hit when another hunter fired at a running deer.
Montgomery report says Negroes boycotted city buses in protest against segregation. J. H. Bagley, the manager, noted disturbances and that the greatest trouble came from white households fearing their servants would be denied service as drivers refused pickups at certain stops.

The Nebraska Supreme Court found the Railway Labor Act’s union shop provision unconstitutional against Nebraska’s right to work statute, a decision appealed by sixteen railroad unions challenging federal authority over interstate commerce.
