Forecast calls for fair skies tonight with a low between 36 and 44 degrees. Tuesday is cloudy and windy with mild temperatures, turning colder later in the day. 24 hour temperatures show a high around 50 and a low near 30, with last night at 33.
West Virginia hunters reported early deer harvests as the season opened with four Grafton residents among the first to bring in game. W. F. Keller, Robert Hoffman, Bill Ware, and Edgar M. Poe each bagged sizable bucks in Woodford Addition Crematory Hollow Wickwire area. State officials anticipate a strong season with deer numbers high, urging in-woods hunting far from roads as licenses rise and out-of-state interest grows. Deer season ends with bow and arrow hunting on Saturday sundown.
Investigators ruled a fifty thousand dollar fire at a Charle Town area farm two weeks ago was caused by pennies placed behind fuses. Fire Chief Clark Farr and I I Caruso of the National Board of Fire Underwriters reported charred coins in the fuse box at the ruins of Dr. W. Flanagan’s farm. The blaze killed twenty hogs, damaged other equipment, and led to fines for reckless driving.

In Indianapolis FBI agents arrested John Testerman Jr., 27, of Galax Virginia, on charges tied to a robbery and beating. The incident occurred near Alexandria Virginia on November 27, with the victim abandoned near Capon Bridge West Virginia. Testerman was taken into custody at the Stockyards Exchange Hotel and was to appear before a U S commissioner.
The parents of Airman Chester Hockenberry of Martinsburg have been notified of his death from injuries suffered in a car crash near Carswell Air Force Base Texas where he was stationed. Hockenberry, 25, was injured on Nov. 18.
Charles Town West Virginia a 72 year old man William F Knighton of Bolivar was found dead in his Jefferson County Jail cell hanging from a noose after being charged with the arsenic deaths of J S Kidwell and his two young children Mollie Knighton the eldest jilted him investigators say Knighton an unemployed widower was questioned about the poisonings and reportedly killed himself in his cell after an angry dispute over Mollie Knighton was held in custody after the incident
Selective Service Board No. 29 reports the largest draft call in three years in Taylor County. Six inductees will report at 8 15 a m for transport to Fairmont to be sworn in. eight more report at 6 45 am for pre induction examinations. Names include Hinb Vandergrift Poling Meavener Prey Hutford Beverlin Shuttleworth Fuller Turner Casto Sabella Bolliger McKinney.
Dr. Ram uel H. Sheppard, a Cleveland osteopath convicted in 1954 of murdering his wife, asked the Supreme Court to reconsider its November 1 rejection of his appeal. He is serving life in Ohio State Penitentiary Columbus arguing press coverage denied him a fair trial and warning of a national policy affecting future cases.
University of Houston prospect Char les Logan Buxton from Princeton Junior College West Virginia faces felony theft charges after breaking into cars and stealing items. Police described a spree including shotguns pistols duck-callers a mink coat and a typewriter found in his room. Buxton 20 admitted to thefts claiming kleptomania and said he learned stealth from a Cherokee friend in South Carolina.
United Nations observers were again rejected by Hungary in a Budapest note signed by acting Foreign Minister Istvan Sebes. The note said Hungary would discuss with Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold in Rome or New York without delay, while restating willingness to meet later in Budapest. The General Assembly debate pressed a 7 December deadline for Soviet Hungary to admit observers, with a four point draft urging compliance and international cooperation.
Foreign Secretary Frelwyn Lloyd announced that Britain and France will withdraw troops from Egypt in a short time and urged Israel to evacuate the Gaza Strip. The timing will be coordinated by Gen. Sir Charles Keightley and Maj. Gen. E. L. M. Burns as UN police chief. A French official said the canal zone evacuation may be completed by Christmas. Dag Hammarskjold ordered the UN emergency force to be ready to assume control in Port Said by mid month. Moscow Radio reported Turkey sent two battalions to Iraq to support Prime Minister Nouri El Said amid demands for withdrawal from the Baghdad Pact.
