Ohio Works Plans Face Hunger and Debt Crisis
Ohio confronts hunger and a $750,000 debt as WPA relief nears. Legislative leaders push a $500,000 emergency appropriation to feed the needy, while a $400,000 option would cover the gas explosion debt from 1932. Governor Davis opposes both, seeking sub‑division relief instead. A new state relief commission is planned and 213,200 people are expected to be employed by week’s end.
