Hundreds of Taylor County veterans turned out to apply for the National Service Life Insurance dividends. The $2.8 billion dividend will be paid starting next January to eligible veterans and dependents of deceased veterans. Applications available at Post Office, American Legion, or VA offices. a VA officer will distribute forms Friday at the State Employment Service.

Two Prisoners Still At Large Near Kingwood
In the Fellowsville area two of six prison escapees remain at large. Walter J. Lanier, wearing prison clothes with a number on the back, was seen in a Route 50 beer garden near Fellowsville and identified by Sheriff J. H. Benson as a suspect. Lanier had a two to ten year Kanawha county sentence. Manuel W. Salisbury, recaptured at his father in law’s farm near Clay, was returned to Moundsville penitentiary, the fourth escapee to be retaken. Three others were captured in Preston county last week. two faces breaking and entering charges related to a service station robbery. Salisbury’s father-in-law reported him. he surrendered after officers surrounded the building. Salisbury is serving a Fayette county grand larceny sentence.

102-Year-Old Vet Falls Ill At Indiana Convention
