Miss Florence Quinn, 22, a grocery clerk, was shot to death today while breakfasting in a vale north of the loop. Restaurateur Albert Pappas was wounded in the left hand as he fired at the robber who fled. the victim jumped from the table just as the stick up began.
The NRA women’s division will meet at 7 30 tonight at the Courthouse with an 8 30 follow up by the men’s department. Lt General Mrs J W Ault leads the unit to conduct a city manpower survey, reach housewives, and urge support for businesses displaying the Blue Eagle. Officers listed include Majors Mrs W A Beavers Mrs R H Sawyer and Mrs Florence H Wilkinson Captains Mrs E F K Roof Mrs E M Tomlinson Mrs Frank Cather Mrs Harold Cole Miss Evelyn Welch and Miss Blanche Guard with eight workers each.
Wheeling August 26 Joseph Doyle a 35 year old Ohio county farm hand sentenced to be hanged September 15 for an attack on the five year old daughter of a player was granted a sixty day stay by Judge John 8 Rite. Doyle's counsel former Representative Carl G Bachman asked appeal for new trial.
American flier Frank Hawks failed to complete a nonstop Vancouver to Quebec flight. He landed in Kingston at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time, then took off again toward Quebec but was off course and not heard from for hours. Reports from Montreal noted uncertainty after Hawks passed Mattice, Ontario, at 6:30 a.m. BST. Authorities feared a possible forced landing in northern Ontario.
In San Diego on August 26 a woman described as crazed attacked Miss Anne Kiss, 50, a housekeeper in the home of Dr. An. The butcher knife assault proved fatal, police said, with details limited by early report.

The government asserts the federal indictment will secure his return, despite Illinois efforts last fall to extradite him for larceny and embezzlement. The charges allege that Samuel T sull and others at Corporation Securities violated the federal bankruptcy act by transferring assets of the corporation to hinder creditors.
