A party of 18 climbing in Bugaboo Range near Spillar can B C faced a deadly mountain storm. Thane Strong, Jodt, Becker, MacKinlay and others sought shelter in a high cave at 11 500 feet when lightning struck the rock. Two climbers were severely burned and hospitalized in Cranbrook while others were uninjured or shaken by the event. The group was led by John Ye, Oakland M C A physical education director, and the tragedy was reported by the Associated Press.
