Board of Education Moves to New Quarters in Grafton
The board of education has moved into modern quarters on the top floor of the Grafton Banking and Trust Company building. County Superintendent Loyd L. Shriver heads the county unit school system from here with assistants and a secretary. A four room suite replaces the old courthouse space, with new staff including EG Kuhn as assistant, Miss Sarah Musgrave as secretary, Miss Elizabeth Shriver as clerk, and Miss Norma Westcott retaining her post at the high school. The levy referendum decision by the state tax commissioner may affect plans, including the possible continuation of the Pruntytown high school. Thirteen rural schools, housing 129 pupils and costing over $100 per pupil, were eliminated, reducing county spending and affecting districts such as Court House, Woodford, Shelby, Gabes Fork, Riverside, and Fetterman.
