Charleston Aug 10 Within 100000 families still on relief rolls the state administration urged counties and cities to levy as much as possible to sustain federal grants. West Virginia was listed as on notice that funds may end unless more is raised locally. Governor Kump said the state has no funds for relief and will push sub divisions to act.

New York Aug 10 AP Senator Key Pitman of Nevada and chairman of the Senate foreign relations committee said the Monroe doctrine is an outworn policy. Returning from the London world economic conference aboard the Hiney Manhattan he urged a declaration that the United States will not interfere in Latin America to assure neighbors of its stated policy. Separately Flemington man Hib fired $5 after pleading guilty to assaulting Joseph Seboria in Magistrate court. Hib earlier faced similar charges and allegedly injured Alexander Zekan, leading to a later assault case.
A twin engined Navy seaplane crashed a mile offshore killing five crewmen and injuring one. Lieut Charles P Hill and Lieut Ted C Marshall were pilots, with Crewmen C Stewart Hovey Pitt and Taft among the dead. Rescue boats raised the bodies from 50 feet of water as the Avocet and a barge assisted.
James Rubright, a Harmony mechanic, was freed on a murder charge tied to his wife’s death by an explosion near Portersville Pennsylvania. He was rearrested on a morality charge as prosecutors cite insufficient evidence to proceed in the murder case. A coroner’s jury previously found the death resulted from the blast. He remains in Butler County jail with $7,000 bail while attorneys seek reduction.
President's new reorganiz ation cuts about 10 000 jobs with 900 seeking new work. The prohibition bureau with 1 800 workers moves to the justice department's new division of investigation. Six hundred employees are dropped from payroll, 200 in Washington and 400 in the field, while others are rehired in the new agency. Officials expect an $8 million annual saving and plan further changes by December 31. Prohibition administrators are instructed to continue under the old bureau until notified otherwise.
