A chaotic jumble of wires reports India planning to deploy its own forces to deter Portuguese Goa incursions as regional tensions flare. U S and Red China held a one hour session in Geneva on freeing American civilians held by the Communists and adjourned until Thursday. A Chinese source said lists of nationals were exchanged with 40 Americans named on the U.S. list and a large number of Chinese students on the Chinese list. Officials would not confirm the lists.
The 11 U S fliers released by Red China will be flown to the Philippines for medical treatment and then directly to the West Coast. Logan Francis Cox age 52 died Monday in a shaft collapse at the Boone County Coal Co mine near Sharples. Authorities report the fatal cave-in occurred during the shift, with rescue teams unable to reach him in time.
