Death Toll Reported as Ark Angel Visits Three Homes
Mrs M C Larsen of Graettinger is buried after death on last Thursday with funeral services at home and Danish Lutheran church. Born 1861 in Denmark she raised eight children and lived in Lost Island township before moving to Graettinger. Her death follows long illness with family, church and friends mourning her devotion as a mother wife and neighbor.

Lars Nestergaard Dies at 90 in Wallingford Area
Lars E. Nestergaard died at his daughter I M Ressell’s home last Saturday Sept 25 and was buried Sept 27 at the Lutheran church east of Wallingford. Born June 14 1844 in Norway he lived 25 years in the Norwegian military service and earned a pension. He and his wife immigrated to Ottertail Minn in 1884 later moving to North Dakota and Emmet County Iowa where they spent the rest of their lives. He is survived by eight children five sons and three daughters including Mrs J Ressell Mrs H Egertson Mrs E Sanderson Engbret Ole and Lars Nestergaard and Knut Nestergaard. Mrs Nestergaard died two years ago last March.

Married Last Week In Minneapolis Ebba Hallum Becomes Bride
Miss Ebba Henrietta Hallum of Minneapolis married Elmer Anderson in Minneapolis at four o clock Monday afternoon. The couple, who have recently moved to Graettinger, plan to reside in the new home of J. A. Spies. The groom works as a clerk at Wildey store and the couple have begun housekeeping on the hill.

Wreck on M. and St. L. near Rockwell kills tramp, injures man
A midnight wreck of thru freight No. 95 on the M. and St. L. near Rockwell leaves one unidentified dead tramp buried under wreckage and another man seriously burned after a tank car exploded. Thirteen cars derailed, valuable freight burned, and property damage runs into thousands as two miles south of Rockwell the train derailed and caught fire.

G A R Membership Drops in Year Reported
The G A R lost 11 434 members last year, about seven percent of its total. Adjt Gen Geo A Newman of Des Moines will present the report at the national encampment in Washington next week. The organization now lists 159 862 members and 5 452 posts. Pensioners total 745 including widows and children, with 391 582 veterans drawing pensions.

Solem Bound Over For Murder In First Degree
The preliminary hearing of Ole O Solem before Justice King at the courthouse resulted in binding over for trial at the next district court term on a murder in the first degree charge. No key facts were released, no testimony from Solem or his wife, but Dr Derby testified arsenic and copper were found in Mrs Aldersons remains indicating paris green death. Mrs Flatgaard testified Mrs Alderson was helpless and fed only by Solem and his wife as a close friend observed daily during illness.

Farewell Reception for Mr and Mrs George at Graettinger
About 250 townspeople and visitors attended a farewell reception for Mr and Mrs GC S George at the Hawkeye. They chose solid silverware over dining chairs and were praised for their community service in Graettinger, including banking, tile works, creamery, grain company, and church work. They move to Grinnell for better schools for their children and are warmly recommended.

W H Wier Buys Noted Sows From Iowa Fair
W H Wier returned from Sioux City with fancy blooded sows to build a stock herd. Five sows, gifts registered and top stock, won first against fifteen heads. One junior sow weighs about 700 pounds, over a yearling and under two years. four others are eight months old around 350 pounds. Large sow bought from W H Dunbar of Jefferson. others from S Coulson of Storm Lake. Wier aims to have the best herd in the region for stock purposes.

Auto racer killed in Cedar Falls fair race
Roy Canfield died instantly in a free-for-all at Cedar Valley District fair after his car struck a concrete post from a tire blowout on the twenty eighth lap. He was unmarried, worked in Cedar Falls, and his parents live in Atlantic, Iowa.
