Ray Lambe Dies in France War Service at 19
Ray Lambe of Graettinger died while serving in the American Expeditionary Forces. He enlisted in February 1918, served in the 3rd Division, fought from Chateau Thierry to the Marne, and fell in France. His death is mourned by his parents Frank and Norand Lambe sisters Miss May and others. He was educated at Graettinger High School and Trinity College Sioux City. The community honors his memory as a brave patriot and patriotism a tribute to the fallen hero.

Funeral of Jon O'Brien was held at Emmetsburg Sunday morning. Services conducted at Assumption Church at 10 o'clock. Full military honors given. Immense crowd attended as remains arrived from France Friday morning.

Fogde-Holland Couple United in Chicago Amid War Service
Arthur Fogde of Graettinger and Bernice Betle Holland of Springfield Illnois wed in Chicago on August 27. They plan to live in Springfield where Fogde holds a good position. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs P O Fogde. He served with credit in the army during the war and has since worked locally.

The 3 year old son of sMx and Mrs. Art Albrecht of St Anagaar Iowa died yesterday from cholera morbus. The boy was their only child and his parents are heartbroken. Large Poland China sale set for Monday near Graettinger
Levi Kaltved will auction his northwest Iowa Poland China herd Monday at his farm east of Graettinger. About 70 head, with bids from 3500 to 1000 dollars, plus nearly 200 total hogs, form the offering. Trains meet buyers at Ringsted and Graettinger. free transport and a noon lunch accompany the sale. over a dozen auctioneers led by James Jensen of Goldfield.

Karl Fanery Died Yesterday at 78
Karl Fanery age 78 died at his daughter Mrs Henry Baedke’s home west of town from dropsy. The remains will be taken to Pomeroy for interment with funeral Saturday. Born in Germany February 26 1848 he came to this country about eight years ago. He was highly regarded by those who knew him. The Times offers sympathy to Mrs Baedke and relatives. Market Day Late A Success reports a large turnout and cash sale of merchandise livestock etc. Grodland Hopp oversaw the sale and many attended. market sales boosted town activity.
