Wallingford businessman Chris Larson aims to pave Highway No 17 from Wallingford to the county line with support from Mrs Larson and Rep B H Maulece. Labor Day Pioneer C S Wells Dies at Home
C S Wells of mmersharg one of Alto county's six pioneers died on Labor Day Monday September 2 1085 after two months bedridden. He lived on a farm east of Osgood with his parents Mr and Mrs A A Wells and hosted early Labor Day gatherings that evolved into a seasonal event with free fruit for visitors. Attendees included students from the local school and P I Tontan of Lost Ishin township, a former state representative. The Wells home became the origin site for the annual celebration with wagon trips noted as the best travel of the era.

Graettinger OKs four and a half miles of sewer line
The Graettinger city council, in a special meeting, unanimously passed a resolution to build four and a half miles of sewer line with an estimated material cost of 40 000 dollars. The project, to be under a federal program, would have property owners furnish materials and the federal government pay labor. All labor would be hand work and the plan is optional and can be shortened from the high estimate.
