Ted McCarty of Grachtinger earned a prized souvenir last week when Col. Ben F. Reeves presented him the four-base hit baseball from the old timers contest at Coon Rapids on August 19. The ball bears signatures from Reeves and several former major leaguers, a keepsake to grow more valuable with time.

A J Johnson Victim Of Stroke In Graettinger

A J Johnson well known Graettinger businessman suffered a slight stroke Saturday morning. Confined to bed, he shows rapid recovery with blood pressure returning to normal. He runs the Farmers Supply Co Ford agency and has been busy since January opening the new auto agency. Previously he was in the implement business for many years and is 59. Friends and associates regret his illness and wish him a speedy recovery.

LeRoy Huiskamp of Fenton has arranged to buy the Loveall Hotel and Cafe in Grach tinger. He has applied for and secured beer and cigarettes licenses. Possession may occur Friday morning or Tuesday morning next week. The Lovealls run the business currently and have enjoyed strong patronage and community friendships.

Auto Collision On Highway North of Grachtinger

Sunday night a car driven by a Leonard brother from northeast of Grachtinger collided with a car driven by Mr. Roberts of Estherville on Highway 17 south of Grachtinger. The Leonard car rolled three times. Roberts’ front fender and wheel were damaged. No injuries. Roberts formerly ran a battery shop at Emmetsburg. The Leonard brothers farm northeast of Grachtinger.
