Labor Day Picnic Draws Large Crowd at Graettinger
The Fifth Annual Labor Day picnic by the Graettinger Farmers Institute attracted a large turnout despite rain in the morning. Delegations from Estherville, Wallingford, Osgood, Emmetsburg, Ruthven, Rodman, West Bend and Bode attended. Speakers included Congressman Connor, B L Wicks, and John D Denison. Events at Flannery's grove featured music by a military band and Lost Island choir, a ball game Hoping defeated Graettinger 7 6, a vocal solo by Miss Johnson, and evening entertainment by the McGibeny's. Sheriff candidates Cullen and Sim Robinson met friends. The day was deemed a great success with lively programs and a late-m ply merry-go-round.
