The grand champion Berkshire gilt at the Iowa State Fair last week was purchased from Gilbert Reeves of rural Graettinger. Reeves sold the gilt from Klint Ridge Farm near Nenport at the National Berkshire Conference on July.

Graettinger Fire Destroys Garage and Boat Near Home
Graettinger Fire Department fought a midnight blaze at the Jim Laabs residence destroying a garage and its contents along with a boat and trailer parked nearby. Firefighters prevented spread to the adjacent house and contained the damage to the outbuilding area.

Labor Day Crowd at 74th G-settinger Celebration
Large crowds attended Labor Day events and the 74th annual G-settinger celebration described as one of the best in recent years. Heat reduced Sunday afternoon turnout but Sunday evening softball finals drew spectators. Monday crowds were somewhat better than in other years.
