Remains Of B N Osher Laid To Rest In Wallingford
B N Osher of Wallingford died at home on Oct 28 1980 after four years of poor health. A pioneer resident, he came to Emmet County in 1869 with his wife Gertrude Hovila and later lived near Wallingford. He leaves his wife eleven children eighteen grandchildren and siblings. The funeral was Oct 29 1980 with Rev Peder Novislotter assisting. a memorial gift was given to Northern Home for the Aged and to a Lutheran charity.

Fire Destroys Farm Home Near Graettinger
A early Wednesday blaze consumed the J. A. Spies farm residence two miles west of Graettinger. Mr and Mrs Wm Strain and their six children escaped with only one sewing machine and a rocking chair saved. the two story building valued around 2000 dollars, with no insurance, was lost along with all household goods and clothing. Local aid arrived with a chemical truck, and Graettinger residents contributed clothing for the children.
