Mr G V Giffin of Independence Township entered five acres in the National Crop Growing Contest. The five acres yielded 622.9 bushels of shelled corn with 83 percent shelling, about 3 percent above normal, on Silver King corn bred for high ear production. Clover sod and manure were used. the plot was drilled and measured under a three farmer and County Agent committee.
