Auto Turns Turtle in Iowa Drive to Sherburn
An auto load of young men left here Saturday for Sherburn Minnesota in Olaf Thorsons car. Brakeman killed by Rock Island train at Ellsworth
Lloyd Ray a brakeman on the Rock Island was fatally injured in Ellsworth Minnesota last week when he fell from the top of freight cars and was run over by the car’s brakes. He lost both legs and a hand but remained conscious during transport to Laverne hospital after being taken from the restaurant. His father lives in Lake Park. Ray had worked for the railroad about a year.

Last week Frank Gotch C T Devereaux Mason Shepard and Dick Munson drove from Emmetsburg toward Ruthven in Gates big White car to spend Sunday at the lakes. They kept pace with a passenger train along the Wazon road and railroad, the auto gaining when roads were good and closing when rough. Devereaux tumbled over the steering wheel after hitting a raised culvert but escaped unhurt as Gotch kept the car steady. They reached Ruthven ahead of the train which had to wait for time.
