Riders' 60 mile endurance ride refines horsemanship across states
The series of 60 mile endurance rides in the east and Colorado trains riders and tests mounts under controlled 9 hour conditions. Early skeptics learned the distance exceeds perceived estimates, as careful pre ride and daily checks reveal that successful horses are well bred, typically Thoroughbred, and suited to range work. The Army Remount Service provides sire stock, mostly Thoroughbreds with some Arab and Standardbred influence.
