Funeral Of Thomas Conway Held Friday

Thomas J. Conway 55 a longtime Emmetsburg resident died after nine months of heart disease complications. Born May 7 1878 at Emmetsburg he married Nora Sullivan in 1904 and worked as a railroad engineer in Rock Island service. Funeral services were held at St Patrick's church Emmetsburg with interment in St John’s cemetery. Pallbearers included nephews and brothers with many out of town relatives in attendance.

Herberger Brothers Visit From Salem Oregon

Walter Herberger of Salem Oregon arrived in Graettinger to visit relatives and friends for a few days after Labor Day. The family moved from Graettinger fourteen years ago, later settling in Salem. The brothers recall hops growers in their Oregon region got good prices, lifting local mood.
