Freight Robbers Sentenced In Graettinger Case

Graettinger thieves Craver father and son were arrested after a Rock Island depot robbery in Lyon County. They received ten year terms to the Reinvengiaty at Rock Rapids, with one to Anamosa and the other to Fort Madison. They claimed Rock Island as home and had prior ties to Mr Osher's robbery. Petersen Passes Away Emmet County Resident at 75

Peter N. Petersen of near Mud Lake died Wednesday after a period of illness. Funeral services are set for Saturday at one o clock in the afternoon at the house. The elderly Emmet County resident was highly regarded in the community and would have turned about 75.

Marriage of Caroline Sundall and Arthur Lundgren at New Richmond

Miss Caroline Sundall wed Mr. Arthur Lundgren in New Richmond Wisconsin with Rev J H T Lee officiating. A wedding dinner followed at the bride’s parents home for both families. The couple will reside in Wisconsin with Lundgren in the garage business and Sundall’s family noting the union.

Obituary of John Quinn from Walnut township

John Quinn, longtime Walnut township resident near Graettinger, Iowa, died after a lengthy illness. He was 77, born in Ireland in 1840, came to the United States in 1866, and married Bridget Murray in 1876. He lived on a farm in Walnut township for 36 years and previously resided in Pennsylvania. He was known for horse handling skill, especially with speed horses, and rode Columbine in Ireland. Survived by wife Bridget and five children James P, Michael J, Matthew II, Mrs. C M Nolan, and Mary Quinn. Burial at St Jacob's Cemetery after a Graettinger funeral at the Catholic church. The obituary notes his loyalty, faith, and helpfulness to neighbors and family.

Roumanian Orchestra Delights City Audience

The Roumanian Orchestra presented the first number of the Grachtinger Lyceum course last evening and offered one of the best musical entertainments. Citizens praised the high class artists and the audience turnout was good, with many already urged to buy season tickets at the remaining four numbers special price.

Bluebirds Form, Elect Officers In Sunday School Class

Mrs. George's Sunday School class elected Carol Green president, Mattie Burkland vice president, Eloy Fister recording secretary, Margaret George corresponding secretary, Cloyetta Green treasurer, with Lillian Fell Alma Smith and Margaret Nefstead forming the committee to secure members. They named the group Bluebirds and plan monthly meetings on the first Wednesday.

County Convention Held Here at Graettinger

The county Sunday School convention met October 18 and 19 in Graettinger with many out of town attendees. The program featured papers on teacher training records and community betterment, led by Rev. A A Howe and Dr L T Weeks. Officers elected include President Rev W A Wilkinson and Secretary Mrs W Underwood Emmetsburg, with a full executive committee and numerous visiting delegations.
