Pioneer mother Mrs Norris Of Lost Island obituary

Mary Norris mother of Mrs Dan O Neill and of Chris and Ole Norris died October 6 1929 at Estherville aged 85 years 7 months and 13 days. Funeral services were held in Estherville and Lost Island with many relatives neighbors and friends in attendance. The obituary recounts her Swedish birth in 1844 migration to America 1849 and long life as a pioneer mother and community figure in Lost Island township Estherville and Pequot Minnesota.

Mary Becker a book agent canvassing at Belmond last week attempted death by her own action. She took poison tablets and lay by the road to die. Despondency given as cause. her parents are dead and her husband and baby recently died. She has a brother in Omaha and is in a serious condition.

Fence Post Heist At Pocahontay Farm

Sixty five fence posts recently set at Jim Lynch farm near Pocahontay were stolen overnight. The incident occurred in the darkness with no sign of escape or clues left behind. Local authorities investigated the theft and appealed for information.
