Funeral of Jer Hard Axelton
Jerhart Axelton, born June 2, 1890 in Graettinger Iowa, rose from bakery work to foreman roles in cement tile and electrical construction before joining the Aviation Signal Corps in World War I. He died October 8 1918 from bronchial pneumonia influenza at Camp McArthur and was mourned in Graettinger with a flag presentation and prayers. He left a large circle of relatives and friends who offered thanks for comforting kindness.

The Bancroft area mourns Oscar Christian Son
Oscar Christian son of Mr and Mrs Christianson died Friday in Graettinger at age ten years six months fifteen days after a bout with double pneumonia. The funeral was held October 12 conducted by Rev Sande. He leaves parents two brothers Charles and Leo in France and Hawaii, Roy Harold and Gilbert at home, and sisters Mrs Roy Young and Mrs Tom Thompson. The Times extends sympathy.
