Spraying Potatoes Proves Profitable in New York Trial
A New York farmer’s trial with a four time Bordeaux spray on fifteen acres of potatoes increased marketable yield from 67 bushels to 184 bushels per acre, saving roughly $40 per acre in field profit despite a $3.05 per acre spray cost. The study compared sprayed and unsprayed rows, noting better rot control and insect pressure in sprayed plots though some gains may reflect other factors.
