Will Bourne of Pocahontas county heard his dog yelp and shots fired at midnight. He fired once from his screen door with a shotgun, sparing his life as an unknown intruder fired five shots through the door. The man rode away on a single buggy with a white horse, purpose unknown.
In a Spirit Lake Beacon report, Jessie Daugherty Mary Roth and Jack Rankin face murder indictments over the infant found on West Okoboji shores. Daugherty named mother, Rankin accused of killing the child and disposing of the body in the lake. Roth charged with keeping a house at disrepute.
Rockwell Illinois news notes several farm transfers in the past two weeks. A Howard farm near town sold to Patrick McGinty for 110 dollars per acre. W J McDowell, former owner, bought the Lawrence farm of 360 acres two miles south for 130 dollars per acre. Several other farms changed hands during the period.
