Mrs Goodman Anderson Dies After Illness in Emmetsburg

Mrs Goodman Anderson died Friday at 9 45 am in Emmetsburg hospital after sudden illness. Funeral held Monday at the Methodist church with Rev E F Broberg officiating. interment in Silver Lake cemetery. Survived by husband and children, plus siblings, with past moves from North Dakota to Washington and Sweden to the United States.

Auction Sales Prove Highly Successful This Season

Fred Thiel conducted an auction on Wednesday November 21 despite severe weather and nearly impassable roads. A large crowd attended as cattle and machinery sold well, totaling 2800 dollars. A second sale on Thursday November 22 by Victor Mortensen featured premium Holstein cattle at top prices. Walter Thiel held a Monday sale with heavy rain and snow the previous day but drew a large crowd. machinery and cattle sold well and horses peaked at 160 dollars, with total sales around 2087 dollars.

New Beauty Shop Set to Open in Graetfinger Saturday

Misses Clara Thompson and Irene Nelson will launch a new beauty shop in the George Brothers building on the South side, opening business Saturday December 1. A factory representative will be on hand that day to assist with permanents and special bargains will be offered. A prize will be awarded for a name submission for the shop. The two owners recently returned from Des Moines.

Bradley Couple Wed in Vernon Township Church Ceremony

John Luke Luke and Marie Bradley were married at the Catholic church in Gradlinger on Wednesday November 28 at 8 am Reverend Leo McEvoy officiated. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bradley, with ceremony followed by a wedding breakfast at the Bradley home. The couple will reside on the groom’s farm in east Walnut.

Damages Sought in Walsh Estate Suit in Emmetsburg

Joseph Reardon as administrator of the Joe Walsh estate filed a $10,000 damage suit in district court at Emmetsburg Monday against Alden Hermansen of Ruthven. Walsh, killed Sept 17 returning from Spencer Clay County Fair, was struck by Hermansen’s car on Highway 19 near the Little Sioux river bridge. Witnesses including a Spencer dealer and Sheriff Erickson testified. Hermansen and defendant witness Glen Jondghl were to appear today.
