Luverne High School tops Graettinger in decisive win

Luverne High School basketball team defeated Graettinger 51 to 11 on their gym floor Friday night. The visitors led early but Luverne dominated with fast, accurate play and strong teamwork. Attendance was the town’s largest ever, and a basket social funded new chairs for the high school.

Changes In Express Rules For December Enforced

Changes in express rules require patrons to wrap packages more carefully and deliver them to the express office early for billing. Shipping forms demand extra clerical work and parcels must arrive at least thirty minutes before train time or be held until the next train. Express shippers should govern themselves accordingly.

Funeral of Mrs Kent Held Last Friday

The funeral for Mrs. George Kent was held Friday morning at the Catholic church with Rev. Father Kelly officiating. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery north of town. Pallbearers were Roy Hond M Weinholzer Jr George Truesdell W L OConnor Vincent Kelly and P J McCarty. Mrs. Kent, born Mary Gorman in Rockford Illinois on February 25 1866, married George L Kent in 1891 and lived in Estherville Emmetsburg and Graettinger before settling in the area. She died Wednesday morning after years of declining health, survived by her husband two sons John and William and her father FP Gorman with four brothers and four sisters. The family and community mourn her devout Catholic faith and devoted motherhood.

Dantah Church Postpones Regular Meeting Indefinitely

The Dantah Church reports the regular business gathering is postponed indefinitely. Next Sunday at 2 50 PM services will be held at South Walnut church by Rev Rasmus sen of Ringsted. The pastor cannot officiate as his home is quarantined.

Next Sunday is White Cross Sunday and Methodist Episcopal Church urges every friend to attend the special morning service with special music. The pastor J A Cunningham asks readers to rally by phone and boost attendance, aiming for 1100 percent. Evening concert by the choir promises inspiration.

Hub Robbers Captured in Emmetsborg Heist

Four Algonn youths from prominent families robbed the Hub store in Emmetsborg. Names given as McFadden Surchett Raney and Carson. The greater share of the goods recovered. Two in Ummotsburg jail and two out on bail.

Otto Appel Farm Sale Ends Farming Career

Otto Appel will close his farm this Friday December B near Grachtinger. The sale lists 58 head of livestock including 12 horses and 44 cattle, two sheep, 250 chickens, plus extensive machinery. All items go to the highest bidder.

Willis Patrick Sale near Ruthven lists 161 head livestock 10 horses 76 cattle 76 hogs plus machinery with Foshier Erb as auctioneers and L A Koon as clerk. Rucker sale Dec 6 features 60 head livestock and machinery. Gorman Larson sale Dec 8 moves partners to Graettinger and Florida. Olesen auction Dec 9 lists seven horses 33 cattle and machinery plus a Ford and poultry. Sampson sale Dec 15 on Graettinger farm with 98 cattle a Belgian colt ten pigs and machinery. Lee Kerr reports strong turnout and fair horse prices at last Thursday’s auction.
