Geo W Lee, proprietor of a new dry cleaning establishment in Emmetsburg, was a Graettinger caller yesterday with M Morris. Lee plans to collect dry cleaning at the Graettinger hotel, visiting every Wednesday and Saturday. He is from Rockwell City and brings prior experience in the trade.

Five Years For Stealing Hogs Judge DeLand Sentences Man

Ruthven resident Jesse Fiesler was sentenced to five years at Anamosa for hog theft. He pled guilty in district court at Emmetsburg. Co-defendant Thomas Jackson was held for trial next term on a $2,000 bond after arrest for the same offense.

Palo Alto Fair Posts Small Deficit Despite Weather

Emmetsburg faces Iowa Falls in a pivotal Friday clash at Emmetsburg for the 1927 Northern Iowa High School Championship. Diphtheria Program Postponed Until December

Miss Van Horne the school nurse could not attend Tuesday’s P T A meeting to discuss diphtheria. Dr Nane was also unavailable to speak on the subject. The nurse’s county work extends beyond schools with public nursing funded by a county fund. In October she made 162 nursing visits and 72 home visits, handling maternal, pneumonia, scarlet fever, and diabetes cases, and will attend the December P T A meeting.

Editor Lafe Young Dies After Heart Failure

Lafe Young Sr longtime editor of the Des Moines Capital died Monday from heart failure. A former Iowa senator he was a prominent national and state Republican figure. He was well known in Graettinger where he spoke at gatherings and delivered the Labor Day address two years ago, though advanced in years.
