R Nelson, a prominent local citizen, died today after a short illness at his home. His family is at his bedside as funeral plans are not yet made, with reports noting long heart trouble and recent nervous strain contributing to his decline.
A new Rock Island timetable takes effect next Sunday with the southbound Noon passenger train from Graettinger shifting to 6:27 am. No other schedule changes are noted. Community notices follow: a November 22 district event near Graettinger, a Mystery Club screening, and a November 18 basket social at Iverson school with Lillian Sandvig teaching. Former Graettinger resident Alice Waldron Wycoff died at her Graceville Minnesota home on Friday at age 61. She is survived by her husband W H Wycoff and their three sons and two daughters. Funeral services were held Monday with interment in Ayrshire Catholic Cemetery. The family had lived in Graettinger briefly and Mr Wycoff ran a billiard business there. The Times extends sympathy.
Estherville will have another bank once arrangements are complete. Capital stock set at 60 000 with a 10 000 surplus. A temporary building will serve until a new structure rises. Current banking sites are owned by Mack Groves. Bank not ready for business for over thirty days. J J Fay to new roles at Ruthven postmaster and Firestone Tire Co. He will operate retail outlets in Estherville Emmetburg Pocahontas and possibly Spirit Lake.
The W. H. M. will serve lunch next Saturday afternoon at the Farmers Supply Co office. Progaeda will be used for missionary purposes. A cordial invitation is extended to the public to attend. There is a basket social program and dance in Highland Township District No 1 Wednesday evening November 28. Ladies are asked to bring baskets. Miss Mary Doyle is the teacher.
Di M Savatson of Palmer, a graduate chiropractor, lists office hours from 8 am to 6 pm and 8 pm on Monday Wednesday and Saturday at Wallingford Iowa.
An old style blacksmith shop advertises acetylene welding and repairs at 2 Av Heyalaft Wallingford. It promises expert repair of broken enamings and savings, listing general and contact details with a telephone.

A. J. Duhn is making substantial changes in his bowling alley for winter business. He lengthened the alley sanded the surface and constructed a new runway. Workmen have been busy this past week and the alley will reopen in a few days.
Notice from FIRST NATIONAL BANK Graettinger Iowa dated November 25 1927 announces a new policy charging fifty cents per month on active checking accounts that average balances under fifty dollars to cover clerical and other costs. It explains calculations showing a loss per such account and states the first charge will be on November 25 1927 while stressing the move aims to make small accounts nearly self supporting.
A clinic at Coleman hospital in Estherville this week performed fourteen minor and two major operations on Monday and fourteen minor operations on Tuesday. Dr. RB C. Coleman, the operating surgeon, was kept very busy as Graettinger residents and others were treated. Patients included Hazel Shaver Mary Ellen Drake Helen Sullivan and others. The hospital also housed several Graettinger residents and noted horses among attendees. Tuesday was termed Graettinger day at the hospital. four days of clinics remain with Dr. Coleman largely booked.
