Fire destroys Skow barn west of the city
A large barn on Nels Skow farm near the city burned at about three o'clock Thursday morning. The cause is unknown. The 40 by 60 foot structure, built five years ago, was valued around 1500 dollars and insured for 800 with Farmers' Insurance of Cedar Rapids. Wm Skow lost six horses, gear, a threshing separator, hay, and a wagon. other losses and relocation plans follow. Mrs Lambe learned of niece Bessie Hutchins death in Fort Dodge. funeral at Otter Creek.

Threshing Row Produces Court Fight and Costs
In Squire Crowell's court last Saturday a quarrel over lateness at a threshing site led to Charles Royster striking Mike Weinzel and both sides facing claims. Royster was fined $15 for assault, Weinzel owed Royster $9, and a counterclaim for $99.99 was trimmed to $1.00. The jury found Royster liable for $59 and Weinzel for $9, yielding a net of $50 to Weinzel.
