Mrs Helge Helgeson died Monday at her son's home. Funeral services were led by Rev S Q Sande at the Norwegian Lutheran church. Interment followed in the cemetery east of town. A large procession attended. A full obituary will run next week.

The Graettinger High School graduating exercises were held at the Hawkeye theater on Tuesday evening with light attendance due to threatening weather. Professor Stout, president of the State Teachers Association, gave the address on The Challenge to American Youth. Graduates receiving diplomas included Lucy Larson Josephine Larson A Vesta Christopher Anna Berdin Clara Suss Calvin Gammon Bruce Long Julius Simonsen Herman Elsenbast Howard Nefsted. The baccalaureate address at the MBE church Sunday evening by Rev. A R Cuthbert was praised as excellent. Miss Vesta Christopher had the highest four year average and won the state freak scholarship. Herman Elsenbast was next highest and will attend Iowa University.

Alfred O'Connor to headline Graettinger Chautauqua attraction
Alfred O'Connor a returned European soldier will headline the Graettinger Chautauqua this year. He fought in several battles and sustained bayonet bullet and hatchet wounds. He was left for dead in No Man's Land between British and German trenches but was picked up and recovered. He will relate his wartime experiences.

Made Good Record At Maxwell Economy Run
On May 23 Peter Geil and Franz Swanson of the Geil Steer Company took part in the Maxwell Economy run. Geil drove his car 25.7 miles per gallon, while Swanson covered 20 miles per gallon on a pailom. Baumgartner Bond Frick were in one car with no witnesses. Aylward Thompson Peterson were the other. The average mileage by dealers on better roads was about 30 miles per gallon.
