Mrs A A Axelton a well known Graettinger resident died Sunday afternoon at two o clock after a brief illness from pneumonia She had been ill since Wednesday The funeral will be held Friday at ten o'clock at the Norwegian Lutheran church All the children are here for the funeral William and Jahard Axelton arriving from the southwest The obituary will not be published until after the funeral per family request

Death on a railway bridge near Schuyler County
James T. Bailey, a Putnam county farmer, died after being struck by a southbound train on an Iowa and St. Louis bridge over the Chariton river. He fell into water beside the trestle, suffered a crushed skull and a broken leg. The body was recovered near the Lanham home and brought to Lancaster for burial. his sons Harry and Frank of Graettinger, Iowa, attended the funeral.
