Students and bands performed, Miss Martin George sang, Dale Noble played violin, and the American Legion auxiliary hosted a tea party. Officers were elected for the coming year, with Mrs A H Shaver re-elected president and others named for vice president, secretary, treasurer, and librarian.

Home Management Leaders Hold Ninety Follow-Up Meetings
Emmetsburg May 5 report shows 98 follow-up meetings held by leaders from 18 townships in April on Target Quantity Planning lessons. Women in each township selected leaders, attended training, then conducted follow-up sessions for other women. The county’s best record of home project meetings. The second training, House Cleaning Methods, was completed last week with 69 leaders at the first lesson and 7 to 8 at the second. Local leaders from 14 townships attended.

Citizens are informed that cleanup begins May 11 in Graettinger. In Estherville workers removed a tree near Muahium and Anderson store with no taproot. A gust toppled the tree, striking an enclosed car but Miss Martyr narrowly escaped harm. A heavy rainstorm soaked the area overnight, providing moisture for upcoming plowing. Roy Gilbaugh begins rebuilding the Grantinger barn, replacing the fire-destroyed structure with an 82 by 62 foot hip-roofed barn.

Graettinger American Legion auxiliary held county meeting at Woodman Hall Graettinger Tuesday evening May Ath. Large attendance from Ruthven Kiwitsburg Mallard and others with wives of post members present. Committee planned county picture day and poppy sale to aid veterans in hospitals and child welfare. Program included poppy drill, songs, solos and a luncheon served by Mrs Frans Swanson president.

J P Kennedy In Auto Accident Near Estherville
J P Kennedy and daughters Clara Rose and Batty were driving to a Tor Hepp home near Jackson when loose gravel caused the car to overturn. All occupants sustained injuries with Kennedy suffering a broken nose and Rose badly shaken. Emmet Amdahl and wife aided the group and conveyed them to their home near Wallingford.

Estherville Vindicator reports a Tord group car owned by Dr. P. Cain was stolen from the south side of the city square Saturday after five. Cain left the vehicle briefly and returned to find it missing. Geo. Robb later found the abandoned car in a corn field near his home Monday afternoon.

Two youths arrested for stealing U S mail pouches
Russell Buchanan 23 and Donald Francis 16 were arrested by Kossuth County officials after two mail pouches were taken from a Belmond depot. They confessed to stealing the pouches to pockets of cash as federal charges loom. The case involves Belmond, Algona, Wesley and local officials with awaiting post office inspectors.

Doty Killed In Emmetsburg Auto Crash
John Doty, son-in-law of C. P. Jonsen of Graettinger, died instantly when a Nash driven by Harry Newell of Spirit Lake collided with the Doty car south of Emmetsburg. Jay McCullough was seriously injured. Newell and his family suffered minor injuries. Doty, 32, married to Minnie Jensen, worked with Bauck Highway Construction and is survived by his wife, his widowed mother, five sisters, and one brother. Funeral held in Rodman.

Fire Damages Holroyd Property in Graettinger Incident
Graettinger firemen were called to the Holroyd place north of Graettinger early Friday morning. The chemical tank was moved to the scene of danger. A broader house burned down while other buildings were saved. Michael McCarty is the owner of the property.
