Humboldt County Now Scene of Oil Activity
Humboldt County residents hear reports of rich oil deposits on Peter Johnson land along the Des Moines River valley. John Getz Sr. of Morton testifies a device detects oil with 90 plus percent accuracy, predicting a 250 barrel daily gushers from shallow pockets and a 1000 barrel per day deep lake at about 10,000 feet. Local talk turns to forming a company with $8,000 capital to test the land and unlock fortunes for owners nearby.
