Wallingford readies for a market day on Saturday March 14 with sales of live stock machinery and furniture. Auctioneers Rodland and Reeves and the Farmers Savings Bank will handle the sale while John Himbauch Jorstad hardware and local tenants provide goods and services.

Betty Lou a comic operetta in three acts directed by Miss Pearl Noble debuts at the Hawkeye Theatre Grayttinger Thursday evening March 19. Tickets reserved at Frick Drug store from 4 p m Wednesday March 18. Story centers on a family in financial trouble and schemes to secure a wealthy husband with Betty Lou as lead. Cast includes Loretta Swift, Marian George, Vivian Norris, Verna Grodland, Elmer Petersen, Joseph Graily, Kermit Reeves, Evelyn Jones and many others.
Thompsen's Grocery in Grachtinger is re arranging its interior with new shelving and stock re organization. Painters and decorators will follow as the store undergoes upgrades. The owner says the work will take a few weeks yet and notes strong customer patronage during the changes.
Frank Herke of eleven miles northeast of Graettinger will hold an all day closing out sale Friday March 14 starting with a free lunch at noon. Illness in the family prompted the sale. Highlights include 6 horses 80 cattle many milch cows 12 Duroc Jersey sows due to farrow early April plus a DeLaval milking machine and DeLaval separator No 17. The P T A meeting set for March 17 is postponed to Tuesday March 24. A good program is being prepared and a cordial invitation is extended to all to attend. Royal Neighbors To Meet March 17 The next Royal Neighbors meeting will be at the home of Mrs Earl Jones Tuesday March 17. All members should note the date and be present.
The Lost Island Farm Bureau plans a March 17 gathering at Center School House. An advertised program includes a play Mrs Oakley’s Telephone and an address by M T South of Wallingford on The Times Topic, plus county agent talks and musical numbers. Open to all. March 12-13 Abraham Lincoln film shown at Town Theatre Emmetsburg with Graettinger High School class attending.
Death of B. K. Rokne announced as press time arrives. He had been ill for a short time. Funeral arrangements not yet made. Fire company responded to Bartleman Barber Shop blaze last week caused by a floor fire near a gasoline burner. Bartleman family thanks firefighters for prompt, efficient service.

Melody Masters a six member group led by Leonard Merklin with LeRoy Bartleman Howard Horswell Robert Cox Ian George and LaVerne Maer features a singing trio and instrumental variety. Father Kelly mourns the death of his cousin Father Moore of Omaha who died last week. Attended by Father Kelly and Father McNerney of Lmmetaburg, the funeral was held Tuesday. Father Moore was well known to many in Graettinger where he visited on several occasions. Sympathy goes to Father Kelly from friends. John O. Jertson of Boone greeted locals in Graettinger Tuesday. Formerly cashier at the First National Bank, he now works in insurance across a wide state area, appearing in good health with weight gain since leaving Graettinger.
