Graettinger High Presents Fifty-Fifty Next Wednesday Night

Graettinger High School will stage the farce Fifty-Fifty at Hawkeye Theatre on March 18 featuring Henry Brown and Paul Green in a tale of upside down art, publicity stunts, and a chaotic mix of lies and love as mischief turns into managed fun. The cast includes Fate Ovas, Victor Henderson, Orville Smith, Patrick O Mailey, Mrs Podge, Marjorie Johnson, Evelyn Swift, May Dexter, Mrs Hawley, Helen George, Alfred Berdin, Lyndon Johnson, Stephanie, and Grace McGurty.

Ruthven High School beat West Bend and Mallard to win the Class B tournament at Emmetsburg while Estherville defeated L Emmetsburg and Plover to claim Class A. Gradtting er was not entered and no Class A teams play in Class B.

Graettinger will be represented by two contestants in the second round of the state declamatory contest tonight at Emmetsburg. Miss Barbara Thoresen competes in the oratorical class and Miss Dorothy Myhre in the dramatic class, joining rivals from Emmetsburg, Spirit Lake, Graettinger, Turon, West Bend, Wallard, Klemme, Spencer and Greenville.

County Declamatory Contest Yields Unusual Results

The county declamatory event at Ruthven Thursday evening produced no first place from the six district winners. Emmetsburg claimed two firsts and one second, Ruthven a first and a second, Mallard four seconds, and Graettinger a third across the three contests. Dorothy Myhre won two thirds, in the dramatic and humorous classes, with Arbara Thoresen and Marjorie Johnson also taking thirds.

George Frick Cast His First Ballot In Graettinger

George Frick voted Monday after returning to Graettinger from Emmetaburg where he studied citizenship papers. He runs Collins Drug Company in Graettinger and is praised as a fine fellow and one of Uncle Sam's best citizens.

Spirit Lake hosts Class A district tournament weekend

Spirit Lake this Friday and Saturday hosts a Class A district tournament with second round elimination. Ruatherville, winners of Emmetsburg meat in Class A, will play at Spirit Lake. Ruthven, champions of the glass B division, head to Storm Lake for a Friday and Saturday state contest. Seven teams will participate across events as listed.
